Before you ask the ministry for help
Before you go to the Ministry of Children and Family Development, there are groups you can contact for information or help. Here are some places you can try:
- Women's centres, advocacy centres, and anti-poverty groups
- Legal aid
- Your family doctor or medical clinic
- Aboriginal friendship centres, multicultural agencies, and faith groups
- Family service agencies, daycare centres, and parent support groups
- School counsellors and student services
- Victim services and crisis lines
- Addiction agencies
- The yellow pages under "Community Services," "Counsellors," "Social Service Organizations," or "Health and Welfare Organizations"
- Your local public library
