How to ask the ministry for help

What the ministry can do

If you ask the Ministry of Children and Family Development for help, different arrangements are possible. The two most common responses to requests for help are: the ministry refers you to the particular community services you need or it provides the services you need.

The ministry refers you to community services

If you have a simple request, ministry staff will suggest some community resources where you can get help. This referral practice varies from office to office and depends on staffing and time. Ministry staff may keep a record of your call either as a written note or temporarily on a computer for 30 days.

The ministry provides you with services

The Ministry of Children and Family Development may respond to your request for services with one of three basic options:

Family support services

Voluntary Care Agreements

Special Needs Agreements
