How to get help if someone reports you to the ministry

Getting help from an advocate or lawyer

As soon as the Ministry of Children and Family Development contacts you (investigates) with concerns about your child's safety or your parenting, ask an advocate for help. An advocate works to help people prevent and solve their problems.

Tips for dealing with the ministry as your own advocate

Important: If the ministry takes your child away or threatens to take your child away, you need to find a lawyer as soon as possible. If you meet the financial guidelines and your case is covered, legal aid can help you.
