Child protection
How to get help if someone reports you to the ministry
No action
The Ministry of Children and Family Development will take no further action after its initial risk assessment under any of these circumstances:
- The ministry finds no facts to support the complaint
- The evidence shows that your child is well cared for.
- The ministry discovers that the report was false, misleading, or simply malicious.
- The report refers to a matter already known to, and taken care of by, the ministry.
You'll sometimes receive written confirmation from the social worker that your child isn't in need of protection. If you don't get a letter, you can ask for one. Keep a copy of this letter for your records in case you ever have to deal with the ministry again.
If you decide you still need some help caring for your child, ask the ministry for a referral to community or other support services.
