Tips on what to do before you go to the protection hearing

In the time between the presentation hearing and the start of the protection hearing (usually over a month later), you can do many things to help your case:

• Provide your lawyer with information that you believe will help your case. Sometimes it's useful for you to write out the information you want to pass on to your lawyer.
• Deal with any problems that the ministry has listed and try to find realistic solutions.
• Take advantage of courses or counselling arranged by the ministry to help you.
