Child protection
How to make a complaint against the ministry
I come from another country
The traditions and laws you're familiar with may be different from those in Canada. A booklet that can give you some information about the standards for raising children in Canada is Caring for Children (PDF). It's also available in a few languages other than English (choose from the list on the right side of the screen to find out if it's available in your language).
If you feel the ministry social worker handling your case doesn't understand your culture, you may be able to get help from an immigrant or multicultural agency. To find such an agency near you, look up "Community Services" or "Community Guide" in the white pages of your phone book. You can also find "Community Services" in your yellow pages phone book. Immigrant settlement agencies are also listed on the WelcomeBC website.
